Brunei Arts and Handicrafts consists of cloth weaving, silver and gold smithing, bronze tooling, wood carving, metal crafts and music instrument making such as drums,gongs, flute and string instruments. In marriages, the dowry or berian (gifts) is given to the bride's parents. There's a ceremony called, Berbedak where the couple are anointed with rice powder. Their palms and soles were anointed by henna or pachar, a ceremony called Berpachar. When visiting the Mosques, visitor's shouldn't wear shoes. Woman must be covered her head, knees and arms. It is inappropriate to pass infront of the person who are praying. It is also a good custom to leave your shoes when visiting or entering Malay houses. Always use the right hand when acceptinmg gifts, foods and any offer by Malay. It is not allowed to have a western tradition of kissing in public places or to show any strong affection. It is impolite to eat or drink infront of the Muslims during their Ramadhan period.
